Glowplug heating GLOW (2-5 and 7, 8)

Developed by Microsens, Austria

There is a definite advantage to use a reheat arrangement for glow plugs. When using 4-stroke engines. As more cylinders your engine has, as more important a battery powered glow arrangement becomes. But users of 2-stroke motors can also benefit when re-heating of glow plugs is used.

Microsens have developed a unique digital controller “GLOW”.

All have the same common features:

·        the current to the glow plugs is microprocessor controlled to protect the plugs as well as to assure sufficient current for the engine to start and run

·        the current reduces gradually towards the selected cut off point

·        connection to the radio receiver via Y – lead to the throttle channel or to a free channel

·        receiver power supply can be both 4.8 or 6.0 volts

·        Adjustment via transmitter for the current flow to plugs to stop (1/2 throttle?)

·        all versions for two and more no. Of plugs can be used for one motor with lets say 4 cylinders/plugs or in a multi engine plane with 4 different motors! Quite a saving in money and weight

·        The weight is, including cables, app 40 Grams (less than 1 ˝ oz), and only one battery is needed, the number of cells depending on the number of plugs to be heated: 2 cells = 2.4V for 1 plug, 3 cells = 3.6 V for 2-4 plugs e.t.a.

·        the heater can be used with all radios, FM and PCM

·        total heating time when 2200 mA battery cells are used is more then

     30 minutes

·        a bright shining LED indicates when the heater is passing current to the plugs

The adjustment for the current allows the heater to be used to start the engines without an external battery.

Quite an interesting little device well recommended by all using it presently. Changing from ignition and other glow arrangements this invention has been my Rolls Royce of plug heaters/savers!
