NIGHTLIFE

One of the greatest tourist attractions of Villamartin and Torrevieja has always been its variety of entertainment. There are a number of different areas with bars, restaurants and niteclubs which can cater for all tastes. Some of the restaurants offer great value for money, some offering 3 course meals for as little as 11Euro!!! A bottle of wine will cost approximately 6Euro.

In Villamartin, the biggest concentration of bars and restaurants are in the Villamartin Plaza. There is a mix of Irish, English and German bars serving food and drink until 2am. Some of the best restaurants in the area are here, including Chinese, Indian, Spanish, Mexican, English, Italian and German, with Fairways (huge steaks and great fish), and Pancho Villa (great sangria and mexican food), being the best. Booking a table is recommended in high season, as these restaurants are very popular. The restaurant in Villamartin Golf Club is also worth checking out.

Villamartin Plaza.

One mile from Villamartin, on the road to La Zenia is the complex of Elvaradero, which contains restaurants (Japanese,Chinese), bars, and a niteclub. The niteclub is supposed to be really good during the summer months, and can be identified from the three large luminated crosses, towering over the garden complex.

Three miles from Villamartin is the resort of
La Zenia, which has a choice of Irish, English and Italian bars and restaurants. Worth checking out are Alejandro's Bar/Restaurant (great food-3 courses 11Euro), and Paddy's Point (Irish bar with live music).

A mile from the roundabout on the N332, is
Cabo Roig - a great selection of bars, restaurants, shops, and niteclubs. You have a selection of Chinese, Thai, Japanese, Indian, and Italian restaurants, aswell as an array of Irish and English bars to choose from. There is a niteclub called La Scala here which is also good during the summer months. Worth checking out are Chinatown (good Chinese food, cheap prices) and The Bog Road (Irish pub, great decor, great pint, great crowd).

A mile from La Zenia towards Torrevieja, just off the N332 at Playa Flamenca is the Via Park complex, which has a great selection of bars and restaurants. Definately worth a visit is
Puccini's Italian restaurant (the best Italian restaurant for miles) and Chino restaurant (great food and cheap).

By far the best of the nitelife is in Torrevieja, basically because there is so much choice. There are hundreds of night bars, the majority concentrated in the El Baluarte area in the La Punta district of Torrevieja. It can be easily found by walking along the promenade by the marina until you reach Burger King. The streets behind Burger King are awash with disco bars and cafes. This area is most popular with the local Spanish teens and twentysomethings, with the bars playing a mixture of Spanish pop, Latino, and salsa music. It's mad!!! The best nights are Thurs-Sat, with most bars not getting busy until 1am, and staying open until 4am. Highly recommended!!!!!

About 10 minutes from here at the northern edge of Torrevieja, is the
La Mata district. There are an array of beach bars, discobars and restaurants, the crowd being a mixture of local Spanish, Irish, English, German, and Scandanavians. The area has a resort feel about it, and should be checked out. If it is a good Irish bar you are looking for, then the best in Torrevieja has to be J.Mullins Irish Pub (great food, drink and live music) on Caballero de Rodas, on the way to La Mata.

The three biggest niteclubs in Torrevieja are Pacha, KKO, and One. They are all situated on the western edge of the city, in the same area. These clubs are busy all year round because of the large young Spanish population in Torrevieja. The best of the three is Pacha, which has 9 bars, 2 dancefloors, a roof terrace, and can hold about 5,000 clubbers. This is the original Pacha which spawned the world-famous Pacha in Ibiza. The club runs from 12-8am, costs 15Euro (12Euro with concession, free drink with entry ticket), with the best time to go being 3am. Free passes are available from some clothes shops, or on the bar streets in Torrevieja. The music is a mixture of Trance and Hard House on the main floor, and House/Spanish House/Latino/Salsa in the back floor. One of the best nights out you'll have!!!! A good landmark in finding the clubs is MacDonalds, or follow the large beam of light shining in the sky from One. Alternatively, jump in a cab.
