	Evacuation by Eilish

One day I was upstairs and my mam shouted, "Hurry up Eilish, we have to evacuate, the house is on fire, you have ten minutes to get ten things in a box to bring with you, so hurry." As quick as I could I grabbed my pictures of my family because they are close to me, my teddy bear to cuddle at night, my perfume to smell good, my coat in case I get cold, my pillow to rest my head, some food and water. My mam shouted at me again saying "Three minutes come on." I broke open my piggy bank and took fifty euro from it. Books in case I get bored and then I can read. The fire was coming up, the stairs. I was terrified. "One minute" my mam shouted. "I need clothes," I said to myself. So I ran to the window and dropped my box of things. It landed on the trampoline in my back garden. "Jump!" they shouted. I ran and got some clothes and then I jumped. I dropped onto the trampoline and I grabbed the box of things and got off the trampoline and ran and hugged my mam and dad . We all stepped back as we watched our house go up in flames.

One day when I came home from school my Mam was making pancakes. There was a knock on the door and the gas man said "There is a gas leak, you have ten minutes to evacuate!" My Mam quickly ran upstairs and came back downstairs with a carrier bag, and told Aaron and me to pack some stuff. I packed clothes in case I got dirty and needed a spare change of clothes, books because I might want to read, photos to remind me about the old days, and so I have pictures of my relations, a boardgame in case I get bored and want to play something, a portable DVD player and DVDs because I might want to watch a film, a blanket in case I get cold, a pillow so I can put my head on and rest, food in case we get hungry, and my brushes so I can brush my hair, and my perfume so I can smell nice. We all quickly ran out of the house and before our eyes we saw the gas tank explode.

	One night I was walking home from computer course; it was on late because the teacher was late. It was dark when I was walking home. Suddenly flashing lights appeared in front of me. A second set of lights appeared overhead. A tractor beam grabbed me. I was sent flying towards the object. A sudden flash of light and I was in front of two weird things."Gnilthrae sgniteerg," the first one said. He was green with red, bulging eyes. The other was red with green eyes. "What?" I said."Olleh" the red one said. "Come again, "I said. "Retupmoc" one said. "Yes" a voice came from a screen. "Egassem etalnart" the green one ordered. "Ready when you are" the computer said. "Olleh," the green one said. "Translating message." Two long dragging minutes later… "Hey kid they are taking you to their home planet.You can breathe in the air." The computer said. "Thanks" I said. Minutes later we landed with a thud. After the aliens left I hit a button and was teleported home. And found out the first set of lights belonged to my teacher's car.

One day I was watching television when a huge, weird, egg-shapped space ship landed right in my back garden. The aliens held all the girls in my family hostage. It was up to my three brothers, me and my dad. We got in the car and went to my granny. She gave us guns to kill the aliens. So we all went back to the house, sneaked around the back wall and found a way into the space ship. We had a big shoot-out with the aliens. Most of them were dead. But the few that got away were starting up the ship. We had about ten minutes to save the rest of our family. We finally got to the room where my mam and sisters were being held hostage. So we went in and saw all of Jobstown was there being held hostage. The head alien called out that the ship was ready for take-off. We freed everybody and got off the ship. Except my dad. He planted a few bombs on the ship. Bang, the alien space ship blew up. But luckily my dad got off in time. Every one called us heroes.

One day I was on my way home from my friend's house. Suddenly I froze, just in front of me a spaceship landed. I yelled for help and I said "Please don't hurt me. I'm only 12 years old." They said they will kidnap me if I don't get into the spaceship. I said no and shouted for help and no one was there, so I went to get my phone. But then an alien took my arm and pulled me in. Then I said "Where are you bringing me to ?" They said "Mars" and they asked me my name. I didn't anwser and they asked me my name again. I said Leanne. Then they made me a green drink and I have to say it was nice and when I woke up and all I remembered was the green drink.

		One day I was in my back garden. I heard a big "BANG" in the car park. I ran outside. All of a sudden a big metal round spaceship was landing. It hit the ground. The door opened and a beam of light came out followed by thousands of people. One of them said "We are lost, do you know which planet is Mars?" I said "I don't know." My dad came running out of the house and the green person said "Do you know what planet is Mars?" My dad told them the directions and they went back to Mars.

My name is Jessica. I am eleven years old, my birthday was the 1st of April 1994. I live in Keadeen, Naas.I have two sisters and one brother. I go to school in Holy Family N.School Rathcoole. My teacher's name is Mr Manning, my principal's name is Mr Hoban. There are 270 pupils in my school. My two best friends are Michelle and Eilish. Eilish is tall with long brown hair, Michelle is tall with long ginger hair.They are great and fun friends. I am lucky to have them. My hobby is swimming. I go swimming in Naas. I also love to go out and play on my QUAD.

	The Evacuation by Ashleen

In these ten minutes I will be evacuated from my home, so I have ten minutes to get ten of my possessions into a box. But the problem is I may not survive with ten items. So I thought carefully, and then I thought I will put in my mobile phone so I can contact my family, and my MP3 player because I do like listening to some music sometimes. My memories were important to me so I brought a photo album, and a picture of all my family in it. Next for keeping me warm I put in some dry clothes and shoes. For more contact I put in my laptop and my money for the trip. Finally I put in some art hanging over my bed, and my camera because it has my best loved memories in it. Before I could put anything else in my box was taken away, so I have to move on without being in the home I was raised in.

	We should get rid of homework because we do 6 hours in school. After school we should be able to go out and have fun. We learn enough in school and homework isn't fun.

One day my friend Kelly knocked for me. I went out to play. That night I was walking home and there were flashing lights. I looked up and saw a UFO. I ran home screaming. "Lauren what's wrong ?" asked my mam. "A ufo." " Lauren don't exaggerate" "But,, but" "No buts now up to bed." "Oh ok." "Lauren?" "Who's there?" "It's me, Kelly. It was a UFO and my parents were driving." "What do you mean?" "I mean I'm an alien." I tried to scream but she zapped me with a gun. "Lauren wake up its 2o'clock, I think you were having a bad dream" "Ye me too." I shot around the corner and knocked on my friend's door. "Kelly Kelly I had the strangest dream, that you were an alien" "But it wasn't a dream I am an alien" I ran off screaming never to see Kelly again.

"Go go"called my Dad, "you have ten minutes to get a box and put your best things in it." I got the largest box I could find and in it I put my photo album because it is important to me. I put my best pair of football boots in because I worked very hard to save up for them. I put in all my money in ,my best clothes, my playstation and some games. "Go go go" called my Dad again. I still had a lot of stuf to put in so, I got my school bag and took all the books out. I started packing again and got my medals because I worked very hard to win them. I got my collection of match magazines and my books. I zipped up my bag threw it in the box and ran down the stairs but I couldn't get out of house. I was trapped..The fire was to big to jump over, then…………

One day I was walking home from my friend's house when all the sudden a UFO landed. About an hour later I woke up. The aliens where checking my body stats on a screen. I managed to escape but then there were loads of UFOs everywhere. I turned around and BANG I fell to the ground. I was in a gaol cell. An alien walked by, so I punched him and took the keys and a gun as proof. I hopped on a UFO and a button said auto pilot. I pressed it and I shot down to Earth. I jumped out before I hit the ground. I survived. I caught the gun that fell out but it vanished but I realised I was in New Mexico.

	Should homework be abolished? by David

Yes, homework should be abolished because some children get very tired and get very cranky and will say they are not doing their homework. Mums and Dads come in from a long day at the office or work and also will be tired and will be cranky and they will have no time for this screaming. They would like to say you don't have to do it but they can't because their children will be held back. I think children up to 1st class should get work such as dot to dots. So that is my view on that.

	Should homework be abolished? by Ian

I can think of 100000000000001832047 reasons why homework should be abolished. We spend about six hours in school and about forty five minutes at play. If there was a president of homework I would kill him. I know it's not our job to change homework (AWWW!) that's the board of educations job, but I think they should change homework for EVERYONE! (YIPPPPPE) I want to play not do boring zzzz homework. I think people who want homework really DON'T want homework, and if they do they should get a life. So vote no on homework, and if you don't YOU'RE SAD

	I was walking my dogs in the dark. I walked up the hill and I saw a spaceship hovering in the sky. My dogs were going mad. They were too strong to hold and they went running after it. I ran after them. I stopped. This thing flew down on the ground. I didn't know what to do. Then the door opened and an alien came out. I was scared and they took a necklace and left.

	One night I was walking home from a friend's house. Suddenly I froze. Just in front of me a spaceship landed. Green and yellow pulsating lights dazzled my eyes. The door opened, a bright light shone, soon a silhouette of a fat, small, round figure appeared in the light. I screamed, I tried to run but I was not moving, I was floating above the ground. I started to feel dizzy. I woke up and I was in a silver room, I sat up. 'Where am I?' I asked myself. Suddenly I heard a series of clicking and squeaking from outside the room. I heard footsteps coming closer and closer, the door flew open. A metallic blue creature with a gooey looking trail stood there. Slowly making it's way up to me up to me, the creature pulled out a necklace with a big circular medallion on the end of it. It put the necklace around my neck. The creature started talking English. I realised the necklace was a translator. 'We need your help, we need you to open this human life-form secret box', said the creature as he held up a suitcase.' Sure' I replied. I clipped the suitcase open, the creatures were very happy with the contents which were clothes. The creatures dropped me off at my house. They thanked me and they were gone within a second. I felt tired and weary, I went to bed. When I told my mother she simply suggested that I had a bad dream about aliens. Nobody would believe me, well I know it really happened.

One night I was on my way home from my friend's house. Suddenly I froze. Just I front of me a spaceship landed. A beaming light flashed in my eyes I couldn't see. I shouted at the aliens ''What is going on here?'' they grabbed me. They took me onto their spaceship. ''What is going on here?'' I repeated, ''Let me go." As soon as I could see again I couldn't see any aliens. Wow the spaceship was decorated like it was from the year 3000. I blinked and then suddenly around forty little aliens gathered around me in a circle. I said "What do you want with me?" The one that seemed like the oldest one came up to me and said in a strange accent "We want to observe you, human." "Well if that is all you want why didn't you tell me that in the first place. If you want to observe me just tell me." Three hours later I came out. I felt weird but I didn't care.

One sunny afternoon my friend and I were walking to the shop. We were halfway there and we heard a huge noise coming from the Old Mill. We went to check it out. There was smoke coming from the middle of the mill. We ran to it followed by lots of other people. Suddenly there was no sound. Everyone around us stopped moving and a big green light sucked us both up into a big round hole. Suddenly I opened my eyes and I woke up Jason. We were in a type of lab except it was gold and silver all around. Two big ugly monsters came out of an elevator. Jason threw everything he could see at them. They were speaking English. I said "Where are we?" They replied "You are in a spaceship, look out the window human one." "What do you want with us?" Jason shouted. "Calm down human one." "My name is Jason" he said "And I am Gareth" I said. "This is No. 1 and I am No 2, pleased to meet you Jason And Gareth." "What do want with us?" Jason said. "We want to compare a human brain with an alien brain" said No 1. "How long will it take?" I said "About 2 hours" No 2 said. Two hours passed so quickly and they brought us back to the door of the shop.

	Should Homework be abolished? by Jason

I think homework should be abolished because we do work in school for six hours and I think that's enough. I don't care if we do work in school but I just don't like doing it at home. When people go home all they want to do is go out and play football and go to the park and that is what's good for them. The kids always like Friday because that's the day they don't get homework. Some parents don't like it when their kids get homework because they will have to help them. That is why I think homework should be abolished.

One night I was walking home from my friend's house. Suddenly I froze. A spaceship landed right in front of me! The door folded open and two little boys stepped out. "Hi" said one. "Greetings" said the other. "You are Amy?" the smaller boy said. "No I am Rachael, but Amy is my friend." So I took them to Amy and she looked very happy. "Rachael I have something to tell you ...I am from MARS!" I nearly died when she said MARS. "What did you say?" I blurted. "Rachael do you want to come?" I couldn't believe it! "I don't know what my mam and dad would say about me going to MARS." I went to ask my mam and dad and they said yes. On Monday I wrote an essay about Amy and the aliens but no one believed me. I go and visit Amy every summer.

	Marooned on an island by Luke

One day on an island we were shipwrecked in a hurricane. Our raft washed ashore. After a while I explored the island and found a good place to build a hut. We gathered coconuts and berries for food and drink. We made weapons to go hunting and fishing. We thought the loneliness was peaceful and relaxing. Later at night we all lit beacon fires. We could see a red sail on the horizon. "It's a rescue ship" everyone shouted.

	On night I was dreaming about dogs. They put me in a warehouse and they would not let me go. They tied me up and when I went to move they would bite me on the ankles. When the big dogs left, the little dogs came. I was terrified by the little dogs. They jumped over me, then they attacked me and bit my ankles off and then my head. I woke up and I was alright but I woke up in terror.

	One night I was on my way home from my friend's house. Suddenly I froze. Just in front of me a spaceship had landed. Out of it came two aliens who came over to me and said "O Master we have come to rescue you." They grabbed me and put me in their spaceship, they were a weird aqua green colour. I said "Why do you want me?" The bigger one answered "Master do you not know us?" I said "No I have never seen you before in my life." "Then you can't be our master." "I don't think I am." "Then there must be a mistake, we will send you back to your earth only if you promise not to tell anyone about us." "Ok." Next thing I knew I was floating down to the exact same spot that I was taken from. I got up and watched the spaceships go. I knew my life would never be the same again.

One night I was cycling home from my friends and something unidentified pulled in in front of me. Some sort of gun spat out some sort of fungus and put me asleep. I woke up upon some sort of craft. I expected it was a unidentified flying object. I woke up in my room. It was all a dream, but to my surprise it was an exact model of my room. I noticed blood dripping from my shirt, I lifted up my shirt ….. and then I woke up in a sweat. It was all a dream.

My favourite Irish legend is the Children of Lir. It is about a king named Lir. He lived with his wife and four children. His children were called Fionnuala, Aodh, Fiachra and Con. They all lived in a castle in a forest. Lir's wife died so he decided to marry again. His new wife was called Aoife. One day Fionnuala and her brothers were swimming in a lake and Aoife was watching them. Suddenly Aoife took out her wand and waved it in the air. She turned them into swans. They have to spend nine hundred years as swans until they hear a Christian bell. Aoife told Lir that his children had drowned. Lir rushed to the lake but there were no children only four swans. Suddenly Lir heard one of the swans say his name - it was Fionnuala. She told her father what happened. He was so angry so he turned his wife into an ugly moth. Lir visited his children every day. They talked and sang songs. Lir even brought food to them from the castle. When Lir died they were very sad and lonely. One morning they heard a bell, nine hundred years had passed. They saw a man in a long cloak, he was a monk. He was ringing a bell to call people to pray. They swam over to the monk. "Is that a Christian bell?" Fionnuala asked. The monk raised his hands to bless the swans. As soon as he touched them their beautiful feathers disappeared. Fionnuala and her brothers looked at each other and sang with delight. They decided to go back to Lough Derravaragh and decided to live in the castle and they lived happily ever after.
