The quick answer is that nobody knows! Statistically, if you do the math and assume that they are no "HUMAN" forces at work, every number has an equal chance of being drawn. However, from observation, we can see that some numbers have a much higher "strike rate" than others. While opinions vary as to whether this represents a contradiction to what should happen if the statistitions are correct, it is impossible to prove whose right (if anybody). The reason for this is that, even with a lottery game involving the use of, say, 6 numbers drawn from 42, there are 5,245,786 different combinations of 6 numbers possible. This means that, at a rate of two draws every week, it would take more than 50,440 years to make that number of draws. Furthermore, even then there would be no guarantee that all possible permutations (perms) would come up. Some perms could be drawn more than once while others could be omitted. Theoretically, some perms might not be drawn for more than 100 MILLION draws. That's just the way the laws of random selection work. Whats more, the guys who run these lotteries know all this.
Firstly, TO HAVE FUN !
Whatever you do, please don't get serious about lotteries. They can, very easily, become compuslive. And we all know what kind of hell that can lead to. However, having said that, it's worth noting that most, if not all, lotteries have a charitable purpose so, it's nice to know that while you're having a bit of fun, you are also helping others who are not so fortunate as to have some spare cash to blow on a little distraction. Also, in the vast majority of draws, somebody wins. And, even when nobody wins, the jackpot increases for the next draw.
In my opinion, you can reduce the odds against winning by being clever about the kind of numbers you choose to play. So, in these pages, I suggest some ways improving your chances of winning. More methods of selecting numbers will folow soon but, in the meantime, why not have a look at some of the links below or, if you know your numbers and want to get a list of all the possible perms of those numbers, just go straight to how to order.
This service is free if you want it to be. If you feel inclined to do so then, by all means, send me whatever amount you feel it is worth. And, if you win a prize in your lottery, I would be grateful if you would pop a cheque in the mail to me as I have no other source of income at present. Aside from all that, I wish you the best of luck. Choose your numbers and then go to the how to order page. All the contact details are there.
