The first incarnation of Mexican Pets formed in 1991. Mexican Pets¼ first release was "Nobody`s Working Title" - a six track CD-only Irish release on Independent Records with influences on the album ranging from Husker Du and Dinosaur Jr to Galaxie 500 and American Music Club.

Four 7" singles followed on Irish independent label blunt. Meanwhile Mexican Pets were making regular UK visits to great effect, playing there, and in Ireland, with everyone from Fugazi and Girls Against Boys to No Means No, Therapy? and Sebadoh.

February 1996 saw the release in the U.K. and Europe of the mini-album "Nobody¼s working Title" on blunt with UK dates to support it. The rest of that year saw the band play a string of live UK dates together with a summer tour of Germany and Holland coinciding with the release of a 12-track collection, The Voice of Trucker Youth , which gathered all of the band¼s previous releases together on one CD.

The band spent June touring Germany and Holland before returning to Ireland to work on their debut full-length album, the 11-trackHumbucker. The album was recorded in Co Antrim, Ireland with knob-twiddling performed by producer Ronan McHugh - a Juventus fan.

The album "Humbucker" is released on 7th April and features the single "Supermarket", a Kerrang!! ,Hot Press and Event Guide single of the week. Mexican Pets broke up shortly after the relase of "Humbucker"
