The process of researching your family tree can be costly, slow & extremely time consuming; involving trips to different record centres around the country, and wading through thousands of records spanning many, many years.

Inishowen Genealogy can take most of the effort out of your genealogical research. If you would like research done on your family tree, then here's what we need to know:

• Names of all Irish ancestors (using maiden names for ALL females).
• Names of spouses (maiden names for all females), children (& their spouses/children) etc.
• Places of birth / marriage / death (townland, town / parish, county for Irish places, if possible).
• Dates of birth / marriage /death - please approximate if you have no definite dates (write Abt 1880 etc).
• Sources of your information - where did you get it from (useful for us to know)
• Which line you would like researched.
• Your name, address, phone, e-mail address (if you have one).

Researching is time-consuming, and involves a lot of work. At the beginning of our research we require an initial fee of US$35 or £20 (€25) (cheques accepted). We will then proceed with an in-depth research. When the research is complete, the information will be sent to you - including pedigree charts, ancestor charts and timeline sheet. The final fee is US$65 or £40 (€50).

To help with sending the information to you, we have a blank family group sheet available for you to fill out & send to us. You can download a version of the sheet in Adobe Acrobat format here (requires the free Adobe Acrobat Reader) or Microsoft Excel format here (the files have been virus scanned, but please do run your virus scanner before using the files). In both cases, right click on the link and select "Save link as.." or "Save target as.." to ensure the file is saved to disk. If you wish, you can fill out the information in the MS Excel Spreadsheet and e-mail it back to us at dochartaigh@eircom.net. The sheet provides space for one family (with up to 11 children).
