Cork Orienteering Club invites you to 3 Days of challenging orienteering on the unique complex terrain of South West Ireland, as well as the friendly hospitality and relaxation for which the area is famous. The organisers are committed to maintaining the same flexible approach as at previous events.

Many courses will have legs similar to those run by the World Cup Elites earlier in the day - compare your own elapsed times!

NOTE (1): Approx winning times for Mens and Women's Elite will be 75 & 65 mins repectively on days 2 & 3.
NOTE (2): To enable inexperienced juniors to participate, we will allow "non-competitive" entries in Classes W10, W12, M10 and M12, and supervision by relative or substitute is permitted.

Crohane Lake

 

To be surveyed in 1997/98, this area consists mainly of ribbed slopes.

Day 1 Start times 16.30 - 19.30hrs (After World Cup Classic Qualification Races)

Day 2

 

Crohane

 

To be surveyed in 1997/98, this area consists entirely of very complex open moorland.

Day 2 Start times 14.00 - 17.00hrs (after World Cup Classic Finals)

Day 3

 

The Black Lakes

 

1998 Resurvey. This area consists mainly of complex open moorland.

There is considerable contour and rock detail. Start times (chasing): 09.00 - 11.00hrs

Maps will be available at 1:10 000 and 1:15 000 scales (depending on course) and 5m contours from photogrammetry. See some map clips from previous Shamrock O-Ringen's.
