BAPTISM
We welcome into our Christian community Isla Iris Bonney, daughter of Sarah and Ian, Leytonstone, London.
FIRST FRIDAY
There will not be Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament in Collooney this month. Evening Mass as usual at 8.00pm on Friday.
FR. JOHN'S DEPARTURE
1. To mark Fr. John Maloney's leaving our parish there will be a Mass in Collooney church on Monday 1st September at 7.30pm. Afterwards there will be light refreshments available in Castle Dargan and a presentation will be made to Fr. John. (There will be a bus available outside the church after Mass for anyone requiring transport to Castle Dargan.)
2. On Tuesday 2nd September at 8.30pm there will be a meeting in Ballinacarrow Community Centre to mark Fr. John's leaving. A presentation will be made to Fr. John on behalf of the parishioners of Ballinacarrow and surrounding area.
SCHOOLS RE-OPEN
The Primary Schools of the parish re-open tomorrow. We wish everyone involved, children, teachers, and parents a very happy and fruitful school year, 2008 - 2009.
CLOTHES COLLECTION
Dóchas Nasumu is an Irish registered charity which funds an Orphanage in Kenya for children with Aids. They will collect your unwanted items: used clothing, household textiles, used footwear, etc.
Collection at Collooney and Ballinacarrow churches at 12 noon on Monday 1st September. Please do not bring anything before Sunday afternoon.
HOLY HILL
Fr. Niall Ahen will be celebrant for the noon Eucharist on 7th September at Holy Hill Hermitage in Skreen. The day closes with a short time of reflection at 2.30pm.
SAMARITANS
The Samaritans in Sligo are recruiting new volunteers. See our notice-board about a public meeting in Sligo City Hotel on Wednesday 10th September, 8.00-10.00pm. Attendance is essential for all potential volunteers.
We hope that our parish can help in this great work.
