COMMUNION

As a born again Christian I hear much talk about the Communion being emblems of the body and blood of our Lord Jesus and much has been spoken about why we should not be "religious" about taking Communion or even worse, why we hould not take Communion often and such like things.

I believe that many born again Christians in reaction to everything that the organized religion does and in their attempt to disassociate themselves from it, have thrown the baby out together with the bathwater.
But then I can only say what I, myself believe and what I believe is that Communion is the highest form of thanksgiving and praise to our God and Father.

I read In Matthew 26:26,27 that Jesus - in the night He was to be betrayed - He took the bread and thanked the Father, and when He took the cup He gave thanks AGAIN.
Now I and the most people I know, we give thanks only when we receive something from others and not when we give something of our own to them.
I at least have never said thanks giving something to anyone except if I return something that I borrowed from that person in the first place.
But here I see Jesus offering thanks to God for this sacrifice of HIS body and HIS blood; and He does so, NOT for His sake NOT for His sins, BUT for mine and the rest of the World's.
The thought strikes me that He does so because He accepts as true the fact that the Lord has made man. The man is like a flower in the field and lives ONLY because the Lord gives him breath, and if He takes it away, then the man dies and no one remembers his place anymore. Psalm 103:16.
Jesus acknowledges that "we have nothing that we did not receive, and if we received it then, we have no reason to boast." 1 Cor.4:7
Now if Jesus Himself accepted that every breath He took was because of the Mercy and by the Grace of God, how much more I, myself must accept that I live because of the same Grace and Mercy of the same God. And if I accept this, then my most favourite Scriptures have to be and are the ones that exalt the Lord "for He is good and His mercy endures for ever."
Great things happen when you give thanks and praise to our God. You remember the times that God helped you and the things He's done for you. Faith rises up inside you and the realisation that He really loves you and that He will never leave you nor forsake you, makes you strong.
Peace and comfort fills your heart and mind. Praise stills - stops - every attack against you and initiates your own attack against the enemy. Your cry is not anymore, "help" BUT "the Lord is with me, whom will I fear? The Lord is my light, my strong tower and salvation; of whom shall I be afraid?"
What Scripture can be more favourite for a Christian than Hebrews 13:15 "By Him therefore let us offer the sacrifice of praise to God continually, that is, the fruit of our lips giving thanks to His Name."

And what better way is there to give thanks and praise to our God but by remembering Jesus?
And what better way is there doing so but by following His own instruction to do so by taking communion?

May God shows to all of us what is the right thing to do and the right way to do it.

God bless you.
