THOUGHTS

He is the Creator, we are the creation. He is the painter, we are the painting. To refuse to become the perfect man that He wants us to be is not humility; but cowardice and laziness. To submit to the plan He has for us, is not conceit or megalomania; but obedience.
We don't know how we should look like, He does.
All we know is; that He is not building us a small nice cottage, but a palace.
When I became a Christian, I asked God to take away my addiction to tobacco, and I didn't say anything about gambling, as I didn't want to stop, and indeed I would have objected most strenuously, to anybody that would suggest that I should stop gambling.
However and whatever my objection were at the time, the Holy One went ahead with the "operation" of removing the cancerous addiction of gambling from me and praise be to Him for doing so.
For because of my gambling I was sleeping in bus shelters and had no money even for a basic meal.
To Him be Glory and my thanks for ever and ever, through the Name of Jesus, amen.

Of course, as we continue growing in Christianity it is obvious that we need not only to give our permission to the Holy Spirit, but we must also corroborate with Him in "cleaning and putting our house in order."
Please don't think that Christianity is an exam that God has set us and we have to pass so we will get good marks, nor think that there is a sort of bargain in which we perform our side of bargain and thus we put God in the position of debtor to us and so He will have - if He is honest - to perform His side for that is not so.
Some people when they discover that Christianity is neither an exam not a bargain they think that Christianity is a failure - it doesn't work - and give up. Of course God knows all about it and He has been waiting for the moment that you discover that there is no question of earning a pass mark in this exam or putting Him in your debt.
And then comes another discovery, which is: every faculty you have, your power of thinking or of moving your limbs from moment to moment, is given you by God. If you devoted every moment of your whole life exclusively to His service, even then, you could not give Him anything that was not His own already. So when we say that we can do anything for God or giving anything to Him we are like a small child going to his father and saying, "Daddy, give me a pound to buy you a birthday present." Of course the father gives the pound and he is very happy with the child's present. This is great, but only an idiot would think that the father is a pound to the good in this transaction.
Believe you me, Christianity is neither an exam nor a bargain, and believe that, without God we CANNOT do anything. When a man has made these two discoveries God can really get to work. Now the real Christian life begins. The man is no more asleep. We can now start the real lesson.

To God we owe everything.
To Him through the Name of our Lord Jesus let us give thanks to Him always for He is good and His Mercy endures for ever.
To Him belongs all Glory and Power and Dominion for ever and ever. Amen and Amen.
