THURLES ESTATE TENANTS IN 1819 (Part I)

Original Records contain both Irish and English Acreage (Only English Acreage is shown on this extract) and Currencies, also rent per acre and the total annual rent. The numbers shown are roughly keyed to the numbers on the estate map (Map 1819) on Home Page. At this particular time £108 - 6s - 8d Irish was equal to £100 sterling; 121 acres Irish equalled 196 English or statute acres.

The estate map was drawn in 1827 by John Longfield based on a survey conducted by Patk. Leahy in 1819. The only surviving "copies" of this map (as reproduced on this site) show evidence of corrections and hardly the work of Longfield; the cartouche is particularly crudely drawn.
