Several research stations are operated the year over in Antarctica in order to contribute to an understanding of the current and past climate systems. This lecture will give an insight into the work and life at the German Antarctic research station 'Neumayer' during a 14-months overwintering period. Some results of the research conducted at the meterological observatory and the air chemistry observatory will be presented.
