The Arctic is an exciting place full of animals and people. There are many types of animals that have their own habitat and it isn't all frozen. The animals vary in size and appearance. The Arctic has eight areas. They are; Canada, Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway, Russia, Sweden and the United States.
Foxes have a keen sense of hearing. They can move their ears backwards and forwards. This helps them to hear any small animals moving about at night.
The polar bear is called Nanuuq by the Eskimos. It lives only in the Northern Hemisphere and spends most of its time by the coast. Males are about 10 feet tall and weigh up to 1,400 pounds. Females are around 8 feet tall and weigh 400-600 pounds. They are so fat because they store a 4 inch layer of fat under their skin to keep them warm.

The penguin is a flightless bird. There are 16/17 species of penguin. All of them live to be 15- 20 years old.The reason penguins never get cold is because of their feathers. The air gets trapped beetween their skin and the outside world and keeps them warm. It is very like insulating you house. Apparently, penguins aren't very clever either!!
