Crossmolina’s three year spell of North Mayo minor champions came to an end at Bofeenaun, on Friday evening last. The visitors played with the aid of a slight wind in the first half, and led at half time by 0-5 to 0-4.

Martin Lavelle was short with two difficult frees cleared to the side line, and Stephen Rochford missed two 45’s. This was Crossmolina’s best spell of the half, without anything to show for it on the scoreboard.

A fine goal-bound shot was stopped on the line by Martin Granaghan, but it broke loose to Damien Kelly who drove it into the net for the decisive score, despite the best efforts of Martin Granaghan and Colm Reilly. Lahardane were deserving winners in a fiercely contested local derby.
