League win for Lahardane

Lahardane's first game in Division Three of the Welcome Inn League, away to Tourmakeady, began with the homeside scoring two quick points.

Declan Leonard, one of five Lahardane players involved in the previous evening's under-21 marathon semi-final with Belmullet, opened the winners account, but it was fellow under-21's, Trevor Marley and James Gillespie, who were at the centre of all the sides first half attacks.

Lahardane found themselves four points in arrears, 2-6 to 1-5, at half time and later suffered a bad blow when half time substitute William Barrett had to go off with a knee injury.

But with Anthony McDermott winning lots of possession the winners dominance resulted in a James Gillespie penalty and a fine goal by Frances Bryan to edge Lahardane ahead.
