Lahardane make cut (5-August-98) Lahardane....................0-13 Lahardane are back in Division Two football. Following last year's frustrating result when they narrowly lost out, they had to endure another nail-biting final game before this draw with Aughamore earned them promotion as champions of their section and they now face Parke, who were also promoted, to see who claims the title. This win for Lahardane was all the more noteworthy given the fact that the club was missing no more than nine of last year's side for a variety of reasons, emigration being the main problem. As expected, Aughamore proved tough opponents and Lahardane earned their second division spurs thanks to a late equalising point from ace free taker Cormac Rowland after Noel Garrett won the crucial free. Lahardane led by one point at the break and stretched the lead to four points before Dom Greally inspired a great Aughamore fightback to draw the game as injury time approached. But Cormac Rowland landed that precious point while other vital scores came from Brian Rowland, Ross Nolan and Gerard McGreevy and full credit to a great defensive job and some hard grafting by Lahardane's midfield men. Well done to Lahardane to the management and selectors for a great year's work, and well done especially to the players who put in the effort and got their just rewards. Lahardane: E. Coyne, P. Leonard, A. McDermott, R. McDermott, N. Garrett, M. Marley, J. McDonnell, S. Blake, J. Gillespie, D. Leonard, G. McGreevy, B. Rowland, C. Rowland, R. Nolan, T. Cawley. <<Back |
