Lahardane made sure at second attempt

After being rocked by 1-1 deep into injury time three evenings previously to force a replay on Sunday evening last, Lahardane made sure at the second attempt. A goal in the opening seconds gave Ardnaree a springboard to dominate the first period at the end of which they led by 1-4 to 1-1.

Patrick Rowland played a captains role for the winners, being the only Lahardane player to score until entering the final quarter.

After a load of wides the Sarsfields - who had a player dismissed - had shot their bolt after Jo Mulhern cleared two shots off the goal line. Lahardane landed the final ten points in the match.

The result was a fitting tribute to team manager Tommy Holmes who had put in a lot of work with the panel.
