A spirited effort from Lahardane at Glenhest nearly beat neighbours Crossmolina who, at one stage, led by 2-3 to 0-2 in the opening minutes. The visitors hat-trick hero Martin Cosgrove scored from his half chances, where Lahardane had to work hard for their scores.

Declan Waters, Declan Garrett and two long-range points gave Lahardane some hope. A complete transformation happened and Noel Blake and John McDonnell supplied the ball forward for Michael Lynn to land two points and earn a penalty which Waters converted.

Peadar Gardiner and Michael Heffernan remained a threat and when Cosgrove completed his hat-trick Lahardane's revival looked doomed. Instead, Crossmolina were pushed all the way with four unanswered points, and countless wides, but managed to hold on by the narrowest of margins.
