The Town Clock

The Town Clock was erected in memory of Owen McCann. He lived from 1851 to 1901. Owen was the first chairman of Leitrim County Council. The clock was built in 1905, in Owen McCann's memory. The clock was further out nearer the Market Yard, but the people of the town moved it back to make room for the road. One time the shaft of the monument was just standing there because the clock had been taken away to be restored. There is nice stonework on the clock. It is a very important piece of street furniture. Our town clock has been telling Carrick people the time for nearly 100 years. Elderly (and young) folk like to while away the hours by basking and chatting in the warm sunshine on the seat under our town clock. Clog an baile

Ta an clog ina sheasamh sa bhaile. Ta sé i lar an bhaile agus bionn an clog ag comhaireamh na noimeid agus ag comhaireamh na nuaire. Bionn daoine ina sui, faoin gclog,ag caint agus ag ' crú na gréine.'Feachann se ar na daoine ag díol agus ag ceannach. Féachann se ar na daoine ag siúl tríd an bhaile.
