Trees are grown from seed at Rivesdale Nursery, which is owned by Mr Burke. Nets are placed over the seed beds as hares, rabbits and birds like to eat them. Once they are about three years old a machine cuts under the roots and the young trees are placed in a field where they can grow more. After some time Mr Burke sells them.

Mr Burke plants many trees, some of which are: -
Sitka Spruce, Larch, Fir, Pines and Noble Fir.

When planting farmers have to ensure that 40% of trees planted are broadleaf to protect the environment.
