Yes its that time of year again Folks and
what a weekend of Gala and Fun it will be.
August 4th:
The weekends activities commence at 9.30 pm. on Friday August 4th with the official
opening in the Village we arehonoured to have none other than Leitrims own Singer
and Musician Charlie McGettigan to sing us in to Gala 2000.
10.15 pm. There will be a Ceili Mor in the Rainbow with Music by St. Josephs Ceili Band. As always agreat night of dancing with supper guaranteed.
August 5th:
Saturdays events commence at 3.30 pm. with a walkingChildrens Treasure Hunt. The
venue Glenfarne Forest.5.30 pm. in St. Marys GAA Park six under 12 teamswill take to
the field to compete in a 7 a side GaelicTournament. 7 pm. in the Rainbow there will be
anUnder 12 Fancy Dress Disco. This will be followed at10 pm. by an Under 18 Disco which
will end at 12 am.
Meanwhile McHughs County Bar and Lounge is the place for all you older folk to be. Commencing at 9.30 pm.there will be hay roping, sausage eating, CreamCracker eating competitions and a heritage display so come along and try your hand at some of these events.
August 6th:
Sunday will commence with our Annual Graveyard Devotions. 5 pm. : Monster Sports Day in
St. Marys Park. Competitions will include Fancy Dress,Childrens Races,
Tug-o-War, Nail Driving, Tossing theSheaf, Tyre changing, Pillow Fighting, Shoveling
Sand,Penalty Kicks, Wellie Throwing, to name but a few.There will also be a Town
Challenge, 4 to a team so get your teams ready for this Super Novelty event.
August 7th:
Sunday night the Rainbow is the place to be as the Glenfarne GAA host a rather Novel
Function. There willbe a full licenced bar on hand at this surprise event. Monday Kicks
off with our Annual Fishing competitionwhich will start at 11 am. outside McHughs Bar.2 pm
in the Rainbow there will be a Childrens talent competition. There will be a practice on
the afternoon of Friday August 4th . Contact Tina McMorrow or Linda Slevin for further
information.
4 pm. Duck race in the Village followed by a CarTreasure Hunt at 6.30 pm. and to bring this fantastic fun filled weekend to a close who better to sing youout than Larry Cunningham. Larry and his band will help you dance the night away from midnight to 2 am.Admission only £5.
