GRUB UP LADS!!! NEXT PLEASE!!!! THANKS VERY MUCH!!! WHEELS UP!!!
Third round of the Championship was held by Munster Motorcycle and Car Club at Vernon Mount
in Cork on Sunday 12th November 2000. This site had not been used since our event last
February and was quite overgrown and as usual we organised the weather to suit. We had a
very respectable entry of 29 competitors.
Test 1 was run without major incident in increasingly
drying ground but a few people were caught out on Test 2. Most notably Brian Berkery's
colourful pram taking a rest on its side in the trees. Unfortunately Test 3 had to be cancelled
because of the large hole dug by a certain green series 3 landrover causing too many problems
for the rest of the competitors. Due to an unforeseen problem with gate one and Suzuki springs
this test also had to be cancelled.
So it was back to the clubhouse for dinner. It was Alan
and Stuart's first outing in their twin cam pram which lay down and took a rest and digested half
its oil after lunch. This was the first time we had seen Karl McCarthy in his CJ5 this year.
On the first test after lunch Niall O'Meara rolled for the spectators at the start of Test 5.
To add to the shame of the Beast being beaten again by Paul McCarthy's modified pram, Ivor
nose-dived from the high board on Test 8. Unfortunately Steve and Orla Mahon had to retire
due to a burst rad on their Mitsubishi.
