27/12/98 - City Get Back On Winning Trail

 

22/12/98 - Hill Out For Two Matches

Dave Hill has been handed down a two match ban for reaching 20 penalty points. He will miss the first round FAI Cup match against Monaghan United, as well as the league match away to Finn Harps.

21/12/98 - Doubt Over Dobbs Future

Gerald Dobbs has returned to London after a war of words with manager Dave Barry. He was taken off yesterday and complained about training facilities after Barry questioned his fitness.

20/12/98 - Students Shock City

Cork City lost their unbeaten home record with a very poor display at home to U.C.D. . Glen Fitzpatrick did the damage with a goal in each half, before the home team got back into it thanks to a Lynch own goal. But City weren't let off the hook and continue their poor run after three draws.

16/12/98 - Barry Named As National League Manager

Dave Barry and Liam Murphy have been named to manage a National League team against an Irish B team. The match will take place on Febuary 9 in Bray.

15/12/98 - Glynn To Strenghten Squad

Johnny Glynn looks set to re-join City to help their championship challenge. He has played a match for the reserves at the week-end and hopes to sign soon.

13/12/98 - Hartigan Saves Point For City

Noel Hartigan came on with 15 minutes left against Dundalk, to score what he called "the best of my life". City went down 1-0 to a Ward goal against the run of play. Barry was upbeat afterwards denying a City slump in form, who are now top by 2 points from St Pats.

10/12/98 - Creedon To Make City Documentary

A behind the scenes documentary about Cork City FC is to made by John Creedon. It is an hour long, to be shown on RTE, sometime in the springtime.

8/12/98 - 1-1 Draw Leaves Final In Balance

It's all down to December 30th, final 2nd leg, to decide who will win this year's League Cup, after tonight's draw. It ended 1-1 against Shamrock Rovers, tonight in Tolka Park. It was the worse of starts for going down a goal, after Noel Mooney scored an own goal, pushing a crossed ball, into his own net. City's reply came in the second half, with a well struck goal from Brian Barry-Murphy. It was an entertaining game, in which Fergus O'Donoghue made his first appearance after a long term injury.

8/12/98 - Caulfield Named November Player Of The Month

John Caulfield was today named November Player of the Month, after a number of impressive performances. It's an amazing turnaround for a player who wasn't playing at the start of the season

7/12/98 - 1st Leg Live On Radio

The League Cup Final 1st Leg against Shamrock Roves will be live on RTE Cork Radio tomorrow night, beginning at 7.40.

6/12/98 - Goalless Draw Leaves City 2 Points Clear On Top

Bottom placed team Bohemians, were the first team this season, to leave Turners Cross, with a point. The match was scrappy and few chances were created before another bumper crowd. City only created two clear cut chances, for Caulfield and Coughlan.

4/12/98 - City To Open Cup Defence Against Monaghan

Cork City will start the defence of their FAI Cup away to Monaghan United. The tie against the First Division team is to be played on the weekend of January 10.
