My reasons for doing T.Y are mainly to take a year out to do things I haven't done before like work experience, community placement and to go out on trips more often.

My favourite subject in school is Music Appreciation Class. We bring in our own music of all different tastes, listen to one style per class and decide on the best track. In this class we get to sample music and really decide on whether we like it or not.

The sports I most enjoy are Martial Arts which I do twice a week in an attempt to keep fit, but also for self-defence. Otherwise, I watch and play a bit of football.

I listen to mainly dance music but wanting to be a DJ has made me listen and sometimes like other styles of music. Artists I listen to include BT, Paul Van Dyk, Dune, ATB, Tall Paul, Faithless and Mauro Picotto.

For my work experience I will be working in Tallaght FM. I will be learning various skills in Radio DJ'ing including how to use the equipment, mic work, administration and sound enginering.
For my second work experience I worked in Virgin, Henry Street. It was a well-run business and the staff were particularly friendly and helpful. However the work itself was repititive, tiresome and boring in which I learned very little.

For me the highlight of Transition Year was the ECDL course. It for me is a very important part of this years Transition Year course as many jobs today require an ECDL qualification. In the summer, I will have a job in Compustore which requires such a qualification. ECDL is a very worthwhile course to take and looks particularly well on a C.V.
