To Test the pH of Water Sample

Apparatus:

Universal Indicator
Water sample

 

 

 

 

Method

Pour about 10 cm3 of water into a beaker.
Place a few drops of universal indicator into the beaker and swirl it round.
Compare the colour in the beaker to the colours on the pH chart.

Result:

The water sample turned green indicating that the pH of the water was 7.6.

Conclusion:

The pH of the water is just above neutral and only slightly alkaline.
