Castle and Lower Lough Erne with the hills of Sligo and Leitrim in the
distance, Aughnahoo Art Studio is a custom built fine art facility in
the beautiful and historic surroundings of Pettigo, South County
Donegal. Recent initiatives have shown that communities throughout the
border regions of Ireland are developing strong cross-cultural links.
Pettigo village is by no means an exception to this rule.
Weekend art courses offer stimulating, sensitive and caring tuition and
the beautiful surroundings ignite your desire to paint and indeed to
return. All courses are planned so that those in attendance will gain
valuable insight, knowledge and experience of their preferred art form.
Courses last approximately three days, with accommodation and meals
included in the overall package. Painting courses in watercolours and
oils for novices and advanced painters are available. Future courses
will involve tuition in reflexology, aromatherapy and Fun.
Non-painting partners and spouses are welcome and can join the crew for
dinner in the evening after spending the day fishing, horse-riding,
visiting historical sites or just walking in the nearby woods.

Pettigo, Anna Marie’s homeplace, located the edge of Donegal, is a
unique Irish border-village. Strategically situated at a "cross roads",
between Lough Erne and Lough Derg, between North and South, Pettigo has
always had a name for hospitality.
In Celtic times it was the "Place of the Blacksmith" and for medieval
Europe it was the gateway to the Purgatory of St. Patrick. The 17th and
18th centuries saw Pettigo become a famous market-place and in more
recent times its frontier location made it a "smugglers paradise".
In Pettigo hospitality is not just historical: history has given it
that special character.
Visitors are guaranteed
a healthy, relaxing,
invigorating and
entertaining
holiday.
Where hospitality is
concerned, Pettigo
has always been,
and still is, a
place apart
Pettigo provides the visitor with an excellent base for touring
Counties Donegal, Fermanagh, Leitrim, Sligo, Tyrone and Derry. Within
a half-hour's drive there are two 18 hole golf-courses, blue flag
beaches, an aquatic centre and all water-sport and swimming facilities.
Besides, the Marble Arch Caves, Yeast’s Country, the Ulster American
Folk Park and the Giant's Causeway are approximately one hour distance.
