As the name suggests, the N.A.C.A.I. is a national athletic body with many sporting and cultural links both at home and abroad.
The objects of the association are to develop and promote athletic and cultural events throughout the whole of Ireland.
The aims are to unite people in friendship and peace, achieved through participation in our sporting and cultural activities.
Our greatest asset is our membership, many of whom put a lot of time and energy into the running of the association on a voluntary basis.
Our activities include the promotion of athletics from the very young to the very old in an environment of friendship and enjoyment, culminating in our All-Ireland Championships for all disciplines.
In recent years we have established some very important links with similar associations in the continent of Europe through our affiliation to C.S.I.T. (Comite Sportif International du Travil).
These links have enabled us to send groups to athletic events abroad that also embrace a cultural exchange and in turn the N.A.C.A.I. accommodate a number of visiting groups and teams to events in Ireland each year.
The Association enjoys excellent working relationships with all of the other sporting organisations in Ireland, including written protocols with each of the athletic bodies.

This year the Nacai is celebrating it's 75th.
Anniversary. In 1922 the N.A.C.A.I. was formed under the patronage and
with the approval of the GAA in order that Irish athletics could participate
in International competition under the banner of Ireland for the first
time since the revival of the Olympic Games.
