Welcome Thank you for visiting our school. We have 130 pupils, 7 Class teachers, 1 Learning Support Teacher, 1 Special Needs Teacher, 1 Resource Teacher and 2 Classroom Assistants in this school. Our School In 1863 Monsignor Stephens (Ballyshannon) was appointed Parish Priest to Killybegs. At this time the children of Killybegs were receiving their primary education in a protestant school which was run by the local landlord called Murray. The name of the school was The Murray Lodge. Monsignor Stephens set up his own Catholic School in a barn beside his house. As the numbers increased the school was then set up in the old Niall Mór. During World War 1 the children were moved to the carpet factory as the school and the Foresters Hall were taken over by the British Army. In later years a new school was built and is known as The Niall Mór, where we are today. It was officially opened in 1965 by Joe Brennan T. D. (R.I.P.). The school was built by an Ardara builder, John Mc Gill. Five new classrooms were added in 1991. A computer suite with 12 networked computers was installed in 2002. |
