Commemorative bookDunleavy Design was delighted to work with Balla Town Park community on their Dawn Oak 2002 Millennium Project. The community planted 2,000 oak trees on Millennium Eve at midnight, earning themselves a place in the Guinness Book of Records! I came onboard initially to design commemorative certificates. Dunleavy Design was then commissioned to design a commemorative book, which would tell the story of the project. The book was designed partially via computer and commercially printed onto Stratakolour cream parchment paper (50 pages), and a number of pages were hand-written in half-uncial calligraphy (the Dedication Page to the front, and the lists of dedications/sponsors to the rear). The book was bound in burgundy Moroccan leather by Kenny’s Book Bindery, and featured hand-tooled leather and gold leaf. The Dawn Oak logo was embossed on the cover in gold. A number of copies of the book were also produced and bound in cloth.
