Westwood House Hotel

Presentation Piece 1

This is one picture, in a series of seven pieces, commissioned for a newly refurbished Galway hotel. The series of pieces features a biography of famous persons associated with the locality. In this instance, Harriet Martin, a famous writer, is profiled (hence line drawing, above left, of writing paraphernalia). Italic calligraphy was used for the body text, and half uncial style for the title. Gold foil was also used as decoration in the title. Gouache was used for the title and illustration. This piece was written on cream Aquarelle Arches paper (300 g/mē), and measured 50 cm x 59 cm, and has a deckle edge all round (see above left).
