Francis is named as top student

A top student at the school and young scientist award winner was presented with the Student of the Year 1997. Francis O'Donovan is a scholarship student at UCC, but he doesn't just have brains, he has charm also. The recipient of the Student of the Year award is won by pupils who represent the qualities which CBC would like to instill in their pupils.

The person who wins this award is often not very academic, but normally a good all-rounder with a positive attitude. Francis was a brillian student, but he also featured in many other areas of school life. He was on the debating team which won the Cork Corporation Schools Debate in 1995. He was also a member of the College Orchestra throughout his CBC time. Francis won first place in the Senior Physics Category of the Young Scientist competition in 1997.
