AREA: A - DEVELOPMENT


1 Improvement outside graveyard and sign post to same
2 Improve and widen road from Barley Cove Hotel to Mizen.
3 Improvement to Three Castles road and sign posting
4 Two blind bend turns leading to Caher. Dangerous watertables leading to Cahir Cross
5 Improvement and sign posting of road leading to Toor Pier.
6 Road widening outside school for parking cars.

General Area Development
1 Recreational Area and facilities. ie sports ground and changing rooms.
2 Enterprise Centre to help start small businesses for all year employment
3 Bank Link for the village. ie The Mizen Tele Cottage.
4 Toilet facilities for the village.

AREA: B - DEVELOPMENT


1 White line from Goleen to Mizen Head.
2 Car parking facilities outside Kilmoe graveyard
3 Stone wall made continuous at Chimney Cove and repaired.
4 Improve access to Stony Beach.
5 Provide better parking facilities or lay-bye at Galley cove
6 Entrance sign at Crookhaven to be renewed.
7 Footpath from Crookhaven to head of harbour.
8 Renovate Mill Stream Pier.
9 Renovate Pier at the Pond.
10 Bends at Stella Maris / Sutherland's to be straightened.
11 Renew water pipes from reservoir to Crookhaven as is planned to be done in Goleen this year.
12 Pedestrian Crossing and Car Parking facilities at Lissagriffin School.
13 Acquiring a site in the vicinity of the village for development of community field with dressing rooms and sports hall.
14 Dredge the lake east of the strand road and set up pedal boats.
15 Clear river mouth at Letter cross and raise road to prevent flooding.
16 Map area showing sites, wildlife etc.(as Durrus) to be positioned at Toormore.

AREA: C - DEVELOPMENT


1 Expansion of main business area on Goleen High Street.
2 Pier area - Footpath from Church to Pier and clean up Pier area. (Benches, picnic area.)
3 Develop Kilmoe Church - work in conjunction with Mizen Tourism Co-Op.
4 Field across from Tommy Hodnetts - Check ownership - suggest Co.Council purchase it for park, recreation area.
5 Water - Improve existing supply.
6 Sewage - Improve existing scheme.
7 Land back of O’Meara’s Bar - get it rezoned for amenity.
8 Road widening from Church to “4 Crosses” and down to Duggans Corner. Footpath and lights on same.
9 Car Parking - Provide car parking near village.
10 Public Toilets - Provide in the village.
11 Power Supply - Look into alternative sources of power ie. Windmill.
12 Encourage Co.council to purchase 2 fields back of Scully’s by the river for amenity and some building development.
13 White Line in centre of the road from 4 crosses to Mizen Cross.
14 All ESB and Telephone cables underground in the village.

AREA: D - DEVELOPMENT


1 Road Maintenance:
· Improvements to be made re potholes in several roads in the area
· Lisheenahora Cross - Marred visibility due to overgrowth, which causes danger.
· Enoughter/Dunkelly Road - “Yield right of way” sign needed where road meets main coast road.
· Corner near R.Barry’s shed - marred visibility.
· Duneen south Pier, poor accessibility.
· Builders should take responsibility for site tidiness and maintaining water etc, within the confines of site. (Water has been pouring into main roads and damaging surface as a result).

2 Development:
· While objections to proposed development in the area is condoned, it has been suggested that pressure should be kept on the council in order that development will proceed for the benefit of the community.
· Quarry development to be maintained in prevailing area.
· Traditional look to be maintained in prevailing area.
· Possible development of Dunmanus Castle to promote tourism and qualify for grants.
· Lay-byes on Coast Road.
· Signage for coast road to be clarified.
· Dipping tank in Mileen restored for historical interest.
· Exploit local skills to encourage Goleen area to be self sufficient.
· Locals to be given the opportunity through the work network and job share.

AREA: E - DEVELOPMENT

Road maintenance and development
The R591/592 should be upgraded to N standard quality.
The road from Goleen to Mizen Cross should be upgraded to be wide enough to have a white line.
The roads to Mizen Head from the Mizen Cross, to Caher, to Toor Pier, and to Dunlough to have lay-byes and passing places developed and marked.
The road outside the school at Lissagriffin to be widened to allow for parked cars.
The road to the old Kilmoe Church to be improved and a car park developed.

Signposting
All junctions need marking with white lines, junction signs or cul de sac signs.

Amenities
Recreational area and facilities near village. Sports Ground and changing facilities at Dough or another identified site.. Site for a hotel and leisure complex to be identified

Traffic management at Ballyrisode
Car parking improved. Plan for access to local houses as well as visitors to beach
Road to Ballyrisode widened.

Junction signs throughout parish.
Cul de sac signs. The sign at Dunmanus cross saying Goleen Coast Road to be taken away
The R591/592 from Toormore to Crookhaven to be improved to N quality. The road from Goleen at Kilmoe Church out to the Mizen Cross to be upgraded and widened sufficiently to be white-lined.
The tourist traffic to be encouraged to travel through the area in a clockwise ring ie. from Lowertown – Toormore – Goleen – Crookhaven – Mizen/Barleycove – Coast Road – Dunmanus – Dunbeacon

Monuments to be marked with history boards.
The Altar, Kilmoe Church, Signal Station at Brow Head, Dunmanus Castle,
The Three Castles at Three Castle Head to be made safe and open to the public in co-operation with the owners.
The Mizen Way should be developed as an authorised way marked long distance walk to be publicised and marketed with the Sheep’s Head, Beara, Kerry and Dingle Ways.
The route takes in four peaks, Knocnaphuca, Knocnamadree, Mizen Peak and Letter Hill.
The old Roadstone quarry-works at Crookhaven Harbour should be developed as an amenity – perhaps a hotel with a restaurant with observation deck at the top.
The area needs a major hotel complex with leisure and conference facilities
For the future a Helicopter/VTOL port should be identified and developed to feed into Bantry/ Dunmanway Airport.
Identification and development of a recreational pitch
The pitch at Dough needs to be improved and a clubhouse built.

AREA: F - DEVELOPMENT


1 Dunmanus Pier: Raise and resurface. Extend out to deep end. Shipway added. Channel to be dredged.
2 Cos Gorm Lay-by: Clear out to facilitate a few cars. Put in picnic area, ie. tables and seats. This could help relieve parking along coast road. Signs for the area from “Coles Cross” and “Dunkelly West.”
3 Knockeen road and Prairie Road: Hedges cut back earlier in the year. 1999 it was not cut till August. There has been a major increase in traffic on both roads.
4 Col De Sac Signs.
5 Wall on bridge by Castle needs to be repaired.
6 Road markings at Prairie Cross.
7 Better markings on junctions of Coast Road.
8 Flood lighting for Altar Tomb Stone.
9 Water pump for Toormore Cross.
10 Put cross back on Cnocaphinca.
11 Flower bed for green at Toormore Cross.
12 Speed Limit for Toormore village.

AREA: G - DEVELOPMENT

1 Major Improvement of Coast Road from 5 crosses to Cove Cross including lay-by at Ceann Cun and top of Cove and widening at same spots.
2 All residents would have access to refuse collection on a weekly basis.
3 All residents would be guaranteed continuity in their local authority water supply.
4 Public lighting and parking facilities at Leamcon Pier
5 Public phone near Lowertown Church.
6 Two Lowertown name signs - one at King’s Cross and the other at School Cross.
7 Move Post Box nearer church in the interest of safety. Back off main road.
8 Explanatory Plaque on McLean Grotto
9 Yield sign at Ceann Cun Crossroads
10 Secondary School Bus Service for Gunpoint, Derryleary and Cove and along Coast Road.

AREA: H - DEVELOPMENT


1 Upgrading of James Pyburn’s dwelling at Castlefean, Durrus.
2 Yield Right of Way road sign at Lissacaha Cross
3 Improvement of visibility at the end of the Prairie Road: directly opposite Jerry Kennedy’s dwelling
4 Two “Dangerous Bend” signs to be erected at Bantry side of “Keelahangel” graveyard.
