Where Are
We?
Situated on Balally Drive, and backing onto St.
Benildus College, the school is ideally located to cater for children from a
wide area including
the districts of Dundrum, Sandyford and Kilmacud.
Aims.
We aim to provide our pupils with a wide range of
experiences designed
to develop the moral, social and academic qualities necessary for
adult life.
Hours.
School begins at 8.50 a.m. and classes finish at
2.30 p.m. for most pupils. Infant classes finish earlier, at 1.30 p.m. each
day. There are breaks at 10.30 a.m. and 12.15 p.m. for lunch.
Facilities.
We are very proud of the facilities and activities
available to our pupils, particularly our Computer
Room, which has 22 networked computers,
thus ensuring maximum “hands-on” time for each pupil. Each classroom also has Broadband Internet connection enabling our pupils to avail of the world wide web.It is our intention that
every pupil would be familiar with Word Processing and general Information
Technology by the end of Sixth class.
Our Parents’ Association have established a
magnificent Library with a fabulous
selection of books for all ages providing the ideal atmosphere and setting for
individual reading. Two full time Learning
Support Teachers are available to assist pupils who may benefit from extra
individual tuition.
We also benefit from the services of five Resource Teachers, who cater for
children with special needs and educational disadvantage.
Sports.
We offer a wide and varied range of sports to our
pupils including Soccer, Gaelic
Football, Hurling, Camogie, Basketball, Chess, Unihock and Athletics. Our large Hall provides the
perfect setting for P.E. which is probably the children’s favourite activity.
St. Olaf’s has a long and proud tradition in Cumann na mBunscol, Áth Cliath,
which is the organising body for Gaelic Games & Athletics in Dublin,
winning no less than 7 titles in the last twelve years. Both girls and boys
partake equally in all sports and we hope that they leave our school equipped
for the world of leisure as well as work.
Extra-Curricular Activities.
Our extra-curricular activities are intended to
promote the creative and rewarding use of pupils’ leisure time by getting
involved in cultural and sporting activities. Irish Dancing ,
Little Singers and Ballet classes are available to all
classes, while Art & Music /
Recorder Classes are available from Rang 1 onward. Speech & Drama workshops are provided for classes up to Rang 4.

also offered to Senior Classes. Both team and individual
sports are available to the children, mostly without charge, thanks to the
interest and dedication of our Staff.
Parents’ Association.
We have a very active and hard-working Parents’
Association and are very grateful for the invaluable contribution and input
made by our parents over the years. Parents are actively encouraged to become
involved with the P.A. and thus play a leading role in their children’s
education.
