Fáilte
ar ais to everybody particularly our new Junior Infants. ‘The Keegans and The Foleys’
as they are affectionately called have settled in marvellously as have all our
pupils and staff as we look forward to the coming school year. A particular
word of welcome to our new Staff members (Mr Robinson, Mr Kavanagh, Mrs Duffy
and Ms Browne) and best
School Uniform Policy.
May
we also take this opportunity to remind you that official school uniform or
tracksuit only may be worn to school with no exceptions. Children
should wear tracksuits to school on days when their class has PE / Drama or
other activity as advised by class teachers.
Security
In order to protect our
pupils and to improve the general security of the school, the BOM intend to
lock the main gate to the school after school hours in the afternoon. This will
mean that parents collecting pupils from after-school activities will not be
able to park in the school grounds.
Summer Works
Major
renovations have taken place over the Summer months with the provision of a
second Disabled Access toilet in the school and the provision of two extra
prefabs. This work has yet to be completed and as a result we have classes in
the Hall and the Computer Room and some disruption to our Play areas. We ask
for your patience and co-operation in this regard and hope to minimise
disruption to all concerned.
Parents’ Association
AGM
The AGM will be
held in the school hall on Tuesday 9th October at 8 pm. All Parents are requested to
attend if at all possible. Parent Representatives to the new Board of
Management will be elected at this important meeting.
School Closures
The list of
school closures has been distributed to all families in the school and should
be kept safely for future reference. Check your child’s schoolbag if you
haven’t received your copy. The list may also be viewed on the school website.
This list is not finalised
as there is at least one in-service / school planning date which has yet to be
decided on. We will inform you of these dates as they are made known to us.
School Hours
We would like to remind
everybody that our school is open to receive pupils from 8.50 a.m. each
morning and we would earnestly urge parents to make sure that children are not
left at the school before this time.
This request is purely in
the children’s own interest as the school cannot be responsible for their
supervision until after the official school opening time.
This is particularly
important on wet mornings as the school doors will not be opened until 8.50
a.m. irrespective of weather conditions.
Parents, Staff and
children are reminded that cycling is strictly forbidden in the school grounds
at all times. Cyclists are expected to dismount at the school entrance and to
walk across the school yard.
Classes will end at 1.30 pm for Infants and
2.30 pm for all other classes.
Lost Property
May we please remind
everybody to clearly label uniforms, schoolbooks, tracksuits etc. in order to
avoid confusion over mislaid items.
