Fáilte
ar ais to everybody particularly our new Junior Infants. 'The Keegans and The
Mulvihills' as they are affectionately called have settled in marvellously as
have all our pupils and staff as we look forward to the coming school year. The
school has had yet another facelift over the holidays and is looking really
well at the moment. We ask all pupils to respect the new furniture and toilets
and to maintain them in their present condition.
May we
also take this opportunity to remind you that official school uniform or
tracksuit only may be worn to school with no exceptions. See Official Uniform
Policy posted on school noticeboards.

School
Hours
We
would like to remind everybody that our school is open to receive pupils from
8.50 a.m. each morning and we would earnestly urge parents to make sure that
children are not left at the school before this time.
This
request is purely in the children's own interest as the school cannot be
responsible for their supervision until after the official school opening time.
This is
particularly important on wet mornings as the school doors will not be opened
until 8.50 a.m. irrespective of weather conditions.
Classes
will end at 1.30 pm for Infants and 2.30 pm for all other classes.
Lost
Property
We are
once again faced with an ever mounting pile of tracksuit tops, jumpers, coats,
hats etc. etc. which, apparently, belong to nobody! May we please remind
everybody to clearly label uniforms etc. to avoid this confusion.
Iron-on
labels may still be ordered through the school if required.

Hallelujah
Concert
A
school choir from 5th & 6th classes has been busy rehearsing a large and
varied repertoire of songs for a performance in the Point Theatre on Sunday,
9th December next. They will be joining with choirs from over 100 other schools
to sing for joy in the largest choir in Ireland.
We wish
you all every success & enjoyment in this venture.
Extra-Curricular
Activities
Extra-curricular
activities have resumed in earnest and cater for most interests and age groups.
Speech
& Drama classes take place on Mondays & Tuesdays during the school day
for all classes up to 4th. Most families have contributed towards the costs of
providing these extremely worthwhile classes and anybody who has yet to
contribute should do so as soon as possible.
Chess
teams have been entered in the Dublin Primary Schools' League where we hope to
build on last year's success when we finished 14th in the All-Ireland finals.
Mrs.
O'Rua's word-processing and touch-typing classes have also started. Irish
dancing is taught on Wednesday afternoons and Ballet classes are held on
Fridays. These are open to all age groups.
Sport
Basketball
training for 4th & 6th classes takes place on Monday & Wednesday
afternoons with Mr. Hughes. There is no charge for these classes, so anyone in
these age groups should try it, as it is good fun.
The
Gaelic Football season has also resumed with a vengeance and once again this
year St. Olaf's have entered three teams in Cumann na mBunscol competitions.
Hurling
training for Rang 2 & 3 has resumed with Andy Gibbons and we look forward
to the Annual Indoor tournament in Mid-October.
