                             Frequently Asked Questions.

Q: Are beginners welcome ?
A: Yes, beginners are always welcome. No previous martial arts experience is necessary.

Q: Do I have to show up for every class ?
A: No, You don’t. Of course with only two or three formal classes a week it’s recommended to come as much as possible. Obviously everybody has different work or family commitments and attendance can sometimes be difficult but the club is open every weekday from 3.30p.m. until 10p.m., 10a.m. to 4p.m. on Saturday and 11a.m. to 1p.m. on Sunday and everybody is welcome to come and use either the main hall or the new studio hall as long as no classes are taking place.

Q: I’m not in very good shape and I’ve never really exercised before. Do I need to be in shape before I can start Karate.
A: It’s always recommended to get a medical check-up before embarking on a new exercise regime if you have never exercised before. However a high degree of physical fitness is not necessary to start training in Karate. In fact one of the reasons for doing Karate is to get into better shape.

Q: Are there any age limits ?
A: We prefer that children under the age of eight do not train, but from eight to eighty and beyond all are welcome. Karate is for your whole life, not just a few years .

Q: Do I need a Karate suit?
A: Generally speaking beginners wear tracksuits or similar comfortable clothing in the class. Most people wait until their first or second grading to purchase a suit because at that stage they have made the decision that they wish to continue training.
