I have temporarily titled this work the Unearthing Series. It is influenced by the discovery of discarded objects found in and around my ancestrol home and the surrounding landscape. It is apparent to me that the objects have both male and female qualities. Certain objects were functional and have been used to work the land while others are decorative and ornamental.

The relationships between objects and people has influenced me to think about their personalities, occupations and their relationship with the land and sea. My ancestors were Lighthouse Keepers and Farmers on an Isand and so had a deep relationship with the land and sea.

The works are a combination of oil paint wax pigment on board and plaster casts with some sections with painted panels on canvas. I am using alot of colour pigment which is seived onto the boards and canvas to create a dense depth of colour. I have combined archeological and landscape elements and metamorphosed these into a contemporary context, in an effort to link past and present.
