The Elder is a common tree. It grows six metres in height. It grows tiny white flowers which bloom in June. The green berries are small and shiny and turn red in colour and then purplish-black. The Elder is related to the Honeysuckle. Elder flowers are dried and made into oil. The berries are used to make wine. There are many legends and traditions about the Elder. It has been said that it was used as a cure for epilepsy.
