The Kingfisher is a brightly coloured spectacular bird, which lives by the waters edge ready to dive at the sight of a fish. It kills the prey by beating it off a branch, and eating it head first in order to keep the fins closed. The shape of the wings helps it to take off from the water after a dive. It can stop in mid air to dive for its food. In general birds that fly quickly have pointed wings.
