26th March 2000:
AN APOLOGY to all
who have been sending e-mails without reply. I have discovered that
many messages were not coming through. The problem has hopefully
now been solved. Ninety six e-mails have now appeared on screen.
Some of these are dating back over three months. I am now trying
to make my way through them.
MICHAEL FERRIS: Much
regret has been expressed locally at the sudden death in Lisbon
of Michael Ferris T.D. Michael, a native of Bansha and 68 years
old, has been representing this constituency of Tipperary South
in the Dail since 1987.
MISSION: The parish
mission ended on Saturday evening. There was avery good attendance
at both the morning and evening sessions. There was much interest
in the dramatic presentations based on the Scriptures. A number
of parishioners took part in these.
DECEASED: The death
occurred yesterday of Vincent Murphy, Duncummin, Emly. He had been
ill for some time and died at his sister's residence in Lattin.
He is bereaved by his brothers and sisters. His funeral Mass will
be celebrated in Emly Church on tomorrow Monday. May he rest in
peace.
TUESDAY CLUB: At last
week's meeting of the club a surprise party was given to Mary Hayes
who was celebrating her 70th birthday. We extend our best wishes
to Mary.

Breen, Emly who is studying in Wales. I am glad that she is able
to keep in touch with Emly happenings courtesy of this website.

from St. John the Baptist College in Hospital on tour in New York.
On left is the group in front of St. Patrick's Cathedral and on
right on the Twin Towers. The Emly students on the trip were Brian
Carroll, Nicola Connolly, Angela Hennessy, Jennifer Hennessy, Marie
Hennessy, Daniel Leahy, Mary O'Brien and Michael O'Donnell.
19th March 2000:
HOSPICE MOVEMENT: The
annual dinner dance in aid of the Hospice Movement was held in Patsy
Byrne's Tavern on Friday night last. The function was very well
attended and was a sign of the great appreciation of the service
provided locally by the hospice staff who over the years have given
great care to our seriously sick parishioners in their homes or
in the hospice.
THE PARISH MISSION opened
in Emly this Sunday evening. It will continue until next Saturday
evening with Mass each morning and mission devotions each evening.
DECEASED: The death
took place during the week of Kevin McGirr, Ballinagranna, Emly.
Kevin, aged 72 had only been ill for a few days. A native of Monaghan,
Kevin and Eileen his wife had been living in Emly since 1983. He
is bereaved by his wife, sons and daughter.
12th March 2000:
EMLY GAA: The Emly
GAA club held a presentation dinner dance last night in the Golden
Thatch. Declan Browne, Tipperary county footballer was guest of
honour. The West Tipperary Junior football champonship and league
medals were presented to last year's victorious Emly teams by Declan
Browne. John McGrath, chairman of Emly club welcomed all present
and Michael Frawley, chairman of the County football board addressed
the gathering.
TRAINING: Last year's
medals having been presented, training has now started for this
year's competitions. The club welcomes back John O'Meara, former
county senior player, after his sojourn in Australia. John will
be a great assett to the club.
PARISH MISSION: The
Emly Parish Mission will commence next Sunday in Emly parish church.
It is many years since a parish mission was held in Emly. It will
be directed by Redemptorists Fathers Rev. John P. O'Riordan and
Rev. Derek Mescall.
U.S.A: A number of
Emly pupils of St. John the Baptist School, Hospital, returned today
from a week long trip to New York. They are pupils of the transition
year class in their school.
GARDENING: 
The planting of shrubs and trees was
this week's addition to the Four Seasons Park development. Sharon
Heffernan, Lisobyhane, is tending to the newly planted shrubs.
5th March 2000:
MEETING THE POPE:
This week we feature these beautiful
photographs of Michael and Norita Bourke meeting the Pope in St.
Peter's Square after their recent wedding in Rome. This meeting
took place shortly before the Pope went on his visit to Egypt.


HURLING: Four of the
Emly u-16 hurlers have bee selected to represent their division
(west Tipperary.) They are Donal Condon, Eoin Buckley, Michael Bourke
and Philip Purcell. They are due to play today against the mid-Tipperary
division.
VOLUNTARY WORKERS:

No parish can exist without voluntary
workers. No major projects can be carried out in places as small
as Emly without a big imput from volunteers. We record our appreciation
to the workers who have put so much time into the development of
the Four Seasons Park. Our photograph shows (L to R) Denis Heffernan,

O'Brien, Bartoose, Emly who has returned to Chile after a holiday
