   Titanic Tragedy?

    by Cliona Cogan

" The worst sea tragedy ever," the headline read. Sue quickly scanned the article and put it in her pocket. The next day she was going, with her friends to see the film, "Titanic".

During the film, Sue felt dizzy. She closed her eyes for a moment and when she opened them she was on a ship. Frightened, she ran up to a man and asked him what the ship was called.

"Titanic, he answered hurriedly, obviously annoyed. Sue froze in horror.

"And the date?"

"April14th." Sue ran, breathless into the lounge.

" Captain" she called, running over to him.

"What?" he asked.

"This ship is going to sink."

"Excuse me, young lady but I’m not going to let a 12 year old tell me how to run my ship," he shouted.

"I can prove it." She pulled out the article. The captain read it carefully. He looked at her anxiously. He got up to leave.

"Thank you, my dear," he answered. "Here’s a half-crown."

"Put on your lifebelts," she shouted at 12.00a.m. April 15th.

"Why?" a woman asked.

"This ship is going to sink."

"Nonsense!"

2.30a.m. arrived. Sue ran to the front of the ship, where she saw an iceberg looming eerily ahead. She felt the ship turn slightly to the right. They were avoiding the iceberg! Sue jumped for joy and received a few stares from the passengers.

Sue closed her eyes to soak in the feeling that she, Sue Coughlan, had saved the Titanic. When she opened her eyes she was in McDonalds eating chips. She rooted in her pocket and pulled out a half-crown. It wasn’t a dream. She decided to let it be her secret, hers and the Titanic’s.
