wordmud
my masters project in trinity, produced in collaboration with fellow
students karen curley and vincent dermody.
developed from june to october '99.
it was an interactive installation whose abstract content was spun
around an experimental theatrical narrative by heiner mueller.
the piece took the form of a projection and amplification in a darkened
enclosed space. interactivity came from a proximity sensor which
gauged the interactor's distance from the screen.
the proximity sensor ran into a mac running max, and the data was
then fed to a pc running the piece in director which in turn fed
into speakers and projector.
each of the nine section reacted differently to the interactor's
relationship with the piece, making for a fluid abstract experience.
originally installed in the douglas hyde gallery, the piece had
a brief, successful run in arthouse.
space and bandwith forbids more than a description here, but if
you'd like a cd-rom copy please mail.
