Under 16 singles -Darragh Daly defeated Jerome Willoughby in a pulsating game!
Willoughby won the first 21-18 before Daly replied to take the next 21-18.
Willoughby led 20-18 in the Decider but Daly pulled out 3 brilliant aces to win
21-20 in the tie breaker. Although Darragh did not produce his best handball it
showed how much of a prospect he is.
Willoughby was then defeated in he doubles by another 2 Tyrone lads in the
under 16 doubles final.
Conor Duff and Brian Donnaghy played very well and won this battle.
Christopher Doyle defeated Michael Donnelly in the Senior Singles in two
straight games. Michael unfortunately did not show his best handball.
Then, in the senior doubles, another cracking contest went the full way to the
tie breaker. Killian Gregan teamed up with Christopher Doyle to take on Niall
Loughran and Conor Daly from Tyrone. The Wicklow pair won the first 21-11 but
the Tyrone boys replied in fine fashion taking the 2nd 21-14. The tie breaker
ebbed and flowed throughout with the Tyrone boys coming from 7-1 down to take a
15-10 lead. The match ended with Daly and Loughran winning deservedly in a
21-19 score line in a tense and pulsating finish!
A great day’s handball by these young lads who had the LARGE crown enthralled
throughout!!
