A quick look at what's been happening.......

Our underage section of the website has been updated to include some pictures of the indoor hurling that has been in progress for some time now. It is drawing a large number of young enthusiasts. Games and skills are organised on the training nights under the guidance of Eamon and Sean Gallagher, and some notable club officials.
A table quiz organised by the club is scheduled for The Bridge House in Rochfortbridge at 9pm. It is £10 for a table and all are welcome.
Sunday next (4/3/01) will bring our involvement in the Leinster Club Championship, where we will be taking on the hurlers of Ballymahon or Kinnitty (TBC).

On the 19th January, the club had its dinner dance in the Bloomfield House Hotel in Mullingar. Special guest, Seamus O Faolain attended to present the Intermediate Championship medals to the team members. A special presentation was made to Rom Deegan, the team trainer, by captain Johnny Maloney. After the excellent meal and presentation of medals, there was music and dancing till the early hours.
The following day, at 2.30pm in the Rochfortbridge GAA grounds, the Patrick Gunning Memorial match was held. A game with no shortage of skill produced yet another defeat for the younger lads of the club at the hands of the yorkier legends! Ollie Egan accepted the trophy on behalf of the legends and is looking forward to completing yet another three-in-a-row next year.

The table quiz was as usual an enjoyable and successful event, with people and supporters coming from all parts to support. Every table was in contention until the last four rounds when the questions became that bit harder. However, no question about the winners, with Ray Lyster collecting the coveted first prize on behalf of the Lyster family, who finished very convincingly.

Preparations continue on the training field for our first senior championship outing in four years. Both Greg Balfe and Rom Deegan have done all they can at this stage, and so, as always, it's down to the twenty or so players on Sunday. The game is at 18:15 in Cusack Park, before the Lough Lene Gaels-Raharney clash on Sunday 27th May.
