Paddy Gunning Memorial Challenge
We held the Patrick Gunning Memorial Challenge game on Sunday week last January 6th. This match was planned to be played over the Christmas period but it had to be postponed due to weather conditions. Due to other affecting events it had to be fixed at short notice but despite this a large number of players and spectators turned out on what was an ideal day given the time of year. This was the third annual holding of this fun challenge game to honor the memory of the late Patrick Gunning, our friend and clubmate.
As usual the match was between the veterans and the young tigers of the club. After a grueling sixty minutes when referee Owen Loran had his hands full to keep both sides from killing one another the veterans were declared the winners for the third year in a row. After the match a very proud veterans captain Jimmy Gallagher was presented with the Patrick Gunning Memorial trophy by Patricks sister Annette.
The teams were as follows Veterans, Paul Deegan, Joe Quinn, Rom Deegan, Nollaig McEnteggart, Maurice Molloy, Pat Hayes, Jay Faulkner, Ger Gill, Gordon Eighan, Jimmy Gallagher, Eamon Gallagher, Liam Maher, Ger Gavin, Ger Kenny.
Young Tigers, Declan Hogan, Larry Poynton, Gordon Gonoud, Alan Rigney, Jonathan Sheridan, Philip Sheridan, Paul Brady, Niall Seery, Noel Gavin, John Maloney, Ronan Dunbar, Dermot Faulkner, Bernard Kiernan, Peter Cunniffe,
