Stet Engineering has invested very heavily in CNC machines as the way to solve the conflicting needs of high accuracy with faster production times.
These CNC machines are all interfaced to our CAD/CAM system to allow the machining of complex parts generated on this system. This again has been used successfully on major projects.
The following is a brief description of our machines and their features:
This is a full 2-1/2 axis CNC milling machine fitted with a Fidia control system (a Digital PDP11 computer). It is fitted with a very sophisticated facility which allows the automatic scanning of a customer model and storage of scanning data on floppy disc. This information can then be used to machine a scaled or mirror image (both along any axis) of the model in the die or core.
Machine control: Fidia software - Digital PDP11 computer
This is a full 2-1/2 axis CNC machining centre whose special features include automatic tool change and special Mazatrol CAM 3-D machining software. This machine is used for unmanned machining and drilling of plates and bolsters
Machine control: CAM-M2 software - Mazatrol controller
These are both 2-1/2 axis CNC machines fitted with dialog 2 machine software. These are used for smaller dies.
Machine control: Dialog 2 software - Deckel controller
This is a 2 axis contouring NC machine which, due to high capacity spindle, is used for rough machining bolsters and dies. This paper tape unit has been replaced by a computer allowing the operator to easily load and run quite complex programs.
