The Butcher Boy
By Frankie McNally

ButcherBoy.jpg (9971 bytes)My name is Frankie Mc Nally. I am eleven years old. I live in St Bridgets Tce, Longford .
Every evening after school I go working in a Butcher’s shop. I wear a white coat and a Butcher’s apron. I like my job. I clean, cut meat, scrape down the Bann saw and clean the mincer. My boss Christy Monaghan says that I’m very good at my job.
Everybody calls me Francie Brady the Butcher Boy because of the film. I saw the video. After that I was called the Butcher Boy. I think it is a good joke. But I would never do anything to poor old Mrs Nugent or put her in a cabbage pile. But one thing myself and Francie Brady have got in common is that we both are good with the CHOPPER.

The man who wrote the book of the Butcher Boy was Pat McCabe. He was a teacher in our school before he became a famous writer. He wrote a book for children called Shay Mouse from Longford.

CHARLIE’S ANGELS
A Report on the HURLING BLITZ

Last Wednesday week; our school went to a hurling blitz in Slashers. We played three games and lost them all. We came last in the Blitz. But we all enjoyed the day out. I scored two goals. All the matches were very close. The names of the teams we were playing were Drumlish, Newtown and Emers. We all went up in Mr. Gannon’s car, which is our new mascot. He will bring us to every match. Now back to the game. When we all got up there we all went into a dressing room and got togged out and went out and played.

The first game we played was the best. We only lost by a goal.

Our next game was not so good. We played very badly and lost by 2 goals and 5 points.

Now to our last game. We didn’t play as good again. Our last game was against Newtown. They beat us as well. They beat us by about 1 goal and 2 points.

It was coming near the end of the day. Now it was time to have the presentation. Everybody did not get a medal. It was only the unbeaten finalists.

Charlie brought us back to the school. We all got a big clap when we came home. We all enjoyed ourselves and we had a party in the hall. We arrived home at 2:15. I had a great time. No matter if we lost or not.

We wouldn’t have done it without Charlie.

The Little TheatreThe Little Theatre company was in our school today. The show was called Ribticklers. It was full of fun and lauphter. It was a comedy show full of music, mime, song and dance. The man plays the saxaphone and he was showing some boys how to play it. He was also showing us jazz and we all clapping. There was a woman too. She had a puppet with her. The puppets name is Buster. It was a very good show and we all enjoyed it.

saxophone

I was called up to play saxophone. Johnny and Ross were called up too. We blow into the top of the saxphone and the man played the tune with his fingers. You have to blow hard into the saxphone. Shane Gill played it the best. Solomon did not blow hard enough and it made a funny sound.

HOMEWORK CLUB

We have a homework club in our school. It is on every Monday and Wednesday from 4.30 to 6.30. We have our own special room in the school. There are 16 boys in our club at the moment.

We painted the windows (as you can see in the photo) and we put posters up to design the room.

For the first hour we do our homework and then we have art or play football.

Our teachers are Mr. Gannon, Sarah O’Keefe, Aoife and Mike from Melveiw.

They are brilliant teachers. We love going to the homework club beacause we love doing our homework with our friends.

We also enjoy playing sports. Sarah is very good at art and she helps us to make lots of things.
