Saint Patrick's life

About sixteen hundred years ago a boy named Patrick was born in a town near the west coast of Britain. Like all boys and girls he went to school at the usual age of around four or five. Sometimes he was very cheeky and rude. He was active , loved games and was very healthy. His father had a farm outside the town. Patrick was more interested in his father's farm than school or anything else. Sometimes pirates from Ireland took adults and children to be sold as slaves. When Patrick was sixteen he was captured by a band of pirates. The man that bought Patrick put him to work on a farm. He had to mind sheep and pigs far away from his family and friends in county Antrim.

As Patrick grew up he became more a saint. When he was a man at the age of fifty three he drove all the snakes out of Ireland.

When he died he became a very well known saint. Saint Patrick.

BYE snakes.

ST.PATRICK'S DAY

The person who was to be ST.PATRICK, the patron ST. of Ireland, was born in Wales about AD 385.His given name was Maewyn, he almost did not get the job of bishop of Ireland because he lacked the required scholarship.

Far from being a saint, until he was 16 he considered himself a pagan. At that age, he was sold into slavery by a group of Irish marauders that raided his village. During his captivity, he became closer to God.

He escaped from slavery after six years and went to Gaul where he studied under the company of St. Germain, bishop of Auxerre for a period of twelve years. During his training he became aware that his calling was to convert pagans to Christianity.

His wishes were to return to Ireland to convert native pagans to Christianity. His superiors instead appointed ST.Palladius. Two years later Palladius transferred to Scotland. Patrick, having adopted that Christian name earlier, was then appointed bishop to Ireland.

Patrick was quite successful at winning converts. And this fact upset the Celtic Druids. Patrick was arrested several times but rescued each time by his friends. He travelled throughout Ireland establishing monasteries throughout Ireland. He also built schools and churches which would help him in his conversion of the Irish country to Christianity.

His mission lasted 36 years. After that time he retired to county Down. He died on March 17th in AD 461. That day has been commemorated as ST.Patrick's Day ever since.

He is said to have held a sermon from a hilltop that drove all the snakes from Ireland.

One traditional icon of the day is a shamrock. This comes from a Bona Fida Irish tale that tells how Patrick used three-leafed shamrock to explain the Trinity. He used it in his sermons to represent how the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit could all exist as separate elements of the same entity. His followers adopted the custom of wearing a shamrock on his feast day.

Though originally a Catholic holy day, ST.Patrick's day has turned into more of a holiday

ST.Patrick

Hello my name is Michaela . The following story is about the life of St.Patrick. St.Patrick was born in Wales around 1600 years ago. His father was a wealthy elderman and a Christian. His mother was a slave. Many years ago Patrick was captured by pirates. They called him Niall of the nine hostages. After a while they sold him as a slave to an Irish chieftain in Antrim called Milchiu. He served as a slave in Sliabh Mis for several years. One night as he was going to sleep he heard voices telling him that there was a boat outside waiting for him. So he went. But what he did not know that waiting on the ship were pirates. The pirates on the boat captured him for two months. After that Patrick escaped. He went to France and then back to Wales. His parents and relatives were so happy to see him. They said to him that they did not want him to leave them again. He did not want to disreguard their wishes. But every night as he was going to bed he heard children's voices saying '' come back and help us''. St.Patrick became a priest then bishop. After that he went back and helped the children. Patrick put all his time left into this. After many years Patrick died and ever since he has been known as the patron St of Ireland. We celebrate his good work on the 17th of March. St.Patrick will be remembered for decades to come.

ST.PATRICK

Although Patrick is among the most famous people who ever

lived not much is known about him for sure. Professors have agreed that he lived and worked in the fifth century. But have disagreed on the dates of his birth and death.

This is his life story…

Patrick was born in Britain. He lived in Wales. His father was a farmer. Although Patrick went to school most of his work was devoted to farming.

When Patrick was 16 some Irish pirates came and captured him and brought him to Ireland. He sat on a hill in Antrim working for a shepherd for six years. Then one night he heard voices in his dream saying "Patrick there is a boat waiting for you at Carlingford ". He walked from Antrim to Carlingford the next morning. Indeed there was a boat waiting for him. Patrick saw a man onboard and asked him for a lift. "Sorry no can do" said the man. So Patrick started to walk away. Then the man yelled, "Ok then come on". St. Patrick climbed aboard. But what Patrick did not know is that they were pirates who held St. Patrick captive for two months.

After two months he escaped. He eventually made it home. His family were so happy to see him. One night he heard voices shouting "Patrick come back and teach us about God". So Patrick became a Priest and then a Bishop. He came back to Ireland. He helped them to become Christians. He lived in Ireland for the rest of his life.

St. Patrick

St. Patrick started work on his Dad's farm. Then one day when he was 16 the Irish came and kidnapped him from Wales. They sold him to Milchiu ( the chieftain of Antrim) He spent 6 years o on a hill minding pigs. When he first got there he would pray to God to not be afraid. After a while it worked and Patrick was not afraid. He was able to speak fluent Irish because when the servants would feed him they taught him how to speak Irish. That was an advantage to his later life.

When Patrick was sleeping he heard voices saying there's a boat down there if you want to go home. The next day Patrick walked to Carlingford and there was a boat. St. Patrick asked could he get on the boat. The people asked " have you any money " St. Patrick replied " no". The people said "no then. Clear off". So St. Patrick got on the boat. Then God rocked the boat till they gave in. So St. Patrick got on the boat. Instead of taking him to Wales they took him to France and made him a slave for 2 months.

After that St. Patrick got off the boat and eventually got home. His Dad Calpurnuis wouldn't let him go. He was hugging him for hours on end St. Patrick went to sleep and had dreams of little boys and girls saying, "come back. Come back Patrick. Teach us about God." So St. Patrick went to school and learnt all the things he missed out on. Then he became a priest. He was so good that became bishop.

St. Patrick went to Ireland told everyone about God. They asked how is there three parts in one man. He picked up a shamrock and said "see this shamrock. Yeah well it has three sides on one leaf and God has three sides. "Then one day after preaching people he heard lots of people screaming. He went out to see what all the chaos was about. He looked terrified when he saw snakes everywhere. Patrick decided to try taking the snakes out of Ireland and he did so. He found it in his heart to be nice and get rid of all snakes in Ireland.

All scientists agree where and when St. Patrick died. But they don't all agree on his date of birth. Everywhere in the world people celebrate St. Patrick Day. We celebrate his death.
