Our annual dinner dance was held in the Percy French hotel on Friday evening last. A great night was had by all. Our Club Chairman Sean Collins welcomed everyone and praised all those who had worked over the past 12 months to make it such a success. Special guest of honour was Kieran McGeeney. Other special guests included Brian Carty, Dr. Hugh Gibbons and Brother Hillary (fromer Marist Brother in Strokestown). Speeches were brief, Kieran McGeeney in his address, applauded the Strokestown Team on their commitment and dedication on winning the county final. he is personnally aware of what it takes, and he advised that they should not only strive for county success, or connacht success, but a national title. "If you are good enough to be in a Connacht title, you are good enough to win it, and if you are good enough to win a Connacht title, you are good enought o win a national title" (Kieran McGeeney)

Brian Carty was delighted to be back in his home town to join in in the celebrations of the Strokestown team, having won the county final this year. Club captain Donal hanly and vice captain John Rogers then presented the senior panel with their county medals and jerseys.

Strokestown's winning ways continued with the addition of the county under 21 division 2 title to our collection. Congratulations to the under 21 team and the mentors, who won the county final in kiltoom against St. Aidans last Sunday. this was a tough game of football. [match report]
