goal turns tide for Strokestown

STROKESTOWN proved just too good
for Eire Og in an entertaining under-21 Division
2 semi-final last Sunday. Strokestown went in
leading at half time on the score of 1-5 to 0-3
with Shane Caldwell scoring the goal.

However
Eire Of got off to a fantastic start to the
second-half with two quick goals from Michael
Creighton. The Loughglynn club held the lead
until 10 minutes from the end when Caldwell
pounced for his second, and ultimately decisive,
goal.
Strokestown with quite a number of senior
panellist on their team, including Morgan Beirne
and Derek Hagan who had played for Roscommon in
the FBD Connacht League the day before, finished
strongly and added on a series of points before
the end to set up a final meeting with St.
Aidans next Sunday.
